Book Review: I, Spy

If you like the fun, romantic, humorous hybrid genre of books like The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter or the mom-who-investigates characters and plot in the Finlay Donovan series by Elle Cosimano, then I, Spy by L.M. Kemp might be your new favorite book! I, Spy is the first book in an upcoming series.

Kendall Carter is not quite ready to come in from the cold, but she has to. She is hiding out, trying to raise her daughter Rosie in a quiet, safe lifestyle. And oh yeah, she is bored to death. When danger strikes her quiet life, she contacts her former handler who invites her to London with one little catch. She has to spy again.

Corporate espionage may sound boring, but soon she is tangled up with potential double-agents and moms with more on their mind than the pick-up line. Everyone she meets begins to seem suspicious, and her life is turned upside down when significant people from her past reappear to thicken the plot. Kendall finds herself questioning the loyalties of everyone she thinks she knows, all while trying to keep her daughter safe and happy.

Overall, I, Spy was full of funny mom-life/spy-life moments, and of course, a dramatic romantic past, which made this book an enjoyable AND suspenseful read. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
