Book Review: Microdosing Hope: Poetry Collection

Microdosing Hope

By Lyndsay Rush

A book of poetry. The release date is March 30, 2027. Pre-order this one for your bestie’s birthday or to put in your friend’s beach bag next spring break (and yours too :))

If you’ve ever struggled with being chronically online but wanting to be more present and strive to bring small moments of joy and hope into your daily life, I think these poems will help you do that AND you will likely smile, giggle, cringe, and relate to many of the poems, too.

These are poems about being a woman, being a mom, and trying to keep being a human in a world that is not always kind to keeping our humanity. Like the title suggests, even if we are dealing with the onslaught of bad news and tragedy, we can choose joy and hope, friends and family, crying and laughing and being present, too.

Some of the poems are funny and clever.

Some are a little sad and bittersweet.

Some are a call to action and feminine rage.

Some are sweet and nostalgic.

Millennials in their 30s and 40s might relate the most to these poems, but I think the free verse writing style, humor, and timeliness of Rush’s poems will make them accessible and interesting to many readers.

If you have ever been scared to read a poem or worried you won’t understand, start here and you will find the best parts of poetry: celebrating language, feeling an emotion, experiencing a vivid moment, and feeling seen.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This poetry collection is available on Read Now on NetGalley (as of Sept 29, 2026).

The author has a substack too!
